Greg and Rachel Hart: New Zealand’s Environmentally Responsible Parents

“We have to change. We owe it to our children.” This is what New Zealand farmer Greg Hart said about his and his wife’s decision to change to organic farming. Their decision was made after being struck with the realization that their children might grow up in a world that has been robbed of its natural resources. They began to pay extra attention to the soil in their environs and planted numerous trees. Their ideas and sustainability message gradually spread throughout the whole of their Hawke Bay community.

The couple’s environmental shift eventually led them to a project deal with Air New Zealand. As soon as they realized that they needed extra help for their tree planting endeavors, the couple wrote to Air New Zealand, asking for the conversion of their Airpoints into trees. Thus, a new project was born and Air New Zealand’s passengers now have the option to donate to worthy projects similar to the Hart’s tree planting program.

Greg and Rachel Hart’s dedication has spread throughout their community and has even encouraged other residents to participate in community meetings dedicated to issues related to climate change and other equally vital environmental issues.

This is the kind of passion and dedication that makes a project or a goal succeed. The Harts also represent some of the world’s modern-day heroes; people who are dedicated to creating a whole new and greener world for this generation and for the generations to come.
