Online Poker Etiquette
The concept of etiquette is seemingly foreign to many online poker players. Your opponent has no face, no voice, and the freedom and ease to play as few or as many hands as you’d like creates a culture in which the game is always in danger of breaking.
Heads up hitting and running is far more common online than in a live situation, because of the ease in which it can be done. If one were playing live at a online casino, it would be pointless to play ten hands against an opponent, then stand up, say “thank you” and leave, but this is often commonplace online.
To protect yourself against this, you can play sit and go poker tournaments, which only end after a winner has been determined. Also, developing relationships with the people you play with and becoming friendly rivals will make it more likely that you will receive a warning before someone quits playing you. If you extend your opponents the same courtesy, they will be more inclined to do the same. Set an example for good gamesmanship, and others will follow.
Again, dude, please make sure this is 200 words or else I am going to cut you loose!
