Present Like a PRO – Ten Ways to WOW Your Audience!

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 7:07 pm

“I do not object to people looking at their watches when I am speaking. But I strongly object when they start shaking them to make sure they are still going!” –Lord Birkett

OK. You have been working in the company for a few years now and, through hard work and enthusiasm, have risen up the ranks to a responsible middle-management position. You know your job backwards and are confident that you could rise to any challenge.

One day your Chief Executive asks to see you. You know you have kept your nose clean of late so this can only be good news. No doubt he has a job that needs doing and has looked no further than you. A good choice!

He sits you down and, after a little polite chat, he says:

“As you know, our company is looking to develop its services into other sectors and an opportunity has arisen to raise our profile at a national conference. If we can make our name there it could be the best thing that has happened to us in years. I need someone that I can trust to pull this off and I have been keeping an eye on you for some time. I would like you to make a presentation about our company at the conference.”

What would your reaction be? Perhaps:

* I have never spoken in public before
* Everybody will be looking at me!
* I am sure that I will forget what I have to say!
* I may get asked a difficult question!
* What happens if I screw up!

But it does not have to be so frightening. In fact, it can be immensely stimulating and rewarding. There is no other feeling like standing on a platform in front of people, with them hanging on your every word. You can see by their rapt attention that you have them in the palm of your hand. And afterwards they come up to you and say how much they have enjoyed your presentation.

You don’t believe me! Well, read on and believe how even you could PRESENT LIKE A PRO by applying my Ten Ways to WOW Your Audience

Step 1 – Understand Your Audience

“Some speakers electrify their listeners, others only gas them”
Sidney Smith

The first lesson you must learn is that your presentation must be geared towards your audience’s needs, not yours.

Your audience will respond to your approach, based broadly upon their:

- educational background
- culture
- existing knowledge of the subject
- technical expertise
- position within the organisation
- enthusiasm for the subject and event
- expectation of the experience

Ask yourself the following questions:

• How much does my audience already know about the subject?
• What do they expect from me?
• What interests them in the subject area of my presentation?
• What is their likely attitude towards me and my subject?
• Are there any ‘hidden agendas’?
• Is there any internal politics or inter-group tensions I should be aware of?
• What ‘language’ do they speak?
• Do they want to be at the event? Were they pressed to attend?
• What is the age range?
• What is their educational and social background?
• What is their cultural or ethnic background?
• Could religion and/or politics influence their reception to my presentation?
• What positions do they hold in the organisation? Is there a mix of grades present?
• What presentation style are they most likely to relate to?

Step 2 – Set Your Objectives

“Men never plan to be failures; they simply fail to plan to be successful”
William A Ward

The key to planning a powerful presentation is to determine its objectives. Again, these should be largely formed with the audience in mind. For example, they may be to:

* pass on pure information: the results of some recent market research, perhaps

* improve the work performance of members of the audience by imparting new skills or knowledge to them

* change the attitude of the audience towards factors that they have recently faced, or will be facing in the future

* persuade key decision-makers to use a product or service your organisation offers

* introduce new working policies or procedures

* entertain and amuse

Step 3 – Structure Your Presentation

“A speech should be like a lady’s dress: long enough to cover the essentials, but short enough to be interesting”
Anon

Have you ever heard anyone complaining that a presentation was too short? No? I bet that you have heard the opposite, though! Your presentation should be structured into three distinct sections:

The opening (5% – 10% of total time) has three main functions:

1. To attract the audience’s attention as a means of starting the presentation on a positive note.

2. To explain the purpose of the presentation

3. To advise the audience of any ground rules

The main body (75% – 85% of total time) should be split into a number of main sections: from three to no more than six. This is where you aim to fulfil your main objectives, be they to pass on information; change attitudes; introduce new concepts; or to entertain.
Each section should be easily identified by the audience as being separate to that which proceeds or follows it. The use of bold visual aids with the title or description of the section (possibly numbered) will assist in differentiating each section.

The conclusion (5% – 10% of total time) is the most important section of the presentation because people tend to remember the last thing they hear.

The four purposes of the conclusion are to:

1. Recap the important points you made in the main body of the presentation – although do not be tempted merely to repeat them at length. Make them short and snappy.

2. Reinforce the main message – which could be the dire consequences of not taking the actions you have proposed.

3. Provide a springboard for action: in other words what you want the members to do after the presentation.

4. End on a high note. Do not let your presentation peter out to a feeble, forgettable end.

Step 4 Practice, Practice, Practice

“When other speakers present, we applaud. But when Demosthenes speaks, we arise and go to war!”

The above quotation refers to Demosthenes, a speaker in ancient Greece, who had a stutter, but who practiced his speeches so much, with pebbles in his mouth to counter his stutter, that he became famous for his passion and eloquence.

Do not try to ‘wing it’ – the only way to guarantee a successful presentation is to practice it until it becomes second nature. Doing so:

o Helps reduce the possibility of nerves on the day
o Improves the delivery of the presentation
o Determines the timing of it
o Allows you to refine the content
o Familiarises you with any aids you will be using

Step 5 – Arrive Early and Check

“There are risks and costs to a programme of action. But they are far less than the long-range risk and costs of comfortable inaction”
J F Kennedy

It is essential that you arrive in plenty of time in advance of your presentation, not least because it will allow you time to gather your thoughts, have a glass of water and a deep breath, and relax before you take the stage. Better still, visit the venue days in advance, thus allowing you to take any necessary actions or amendments to your plans.

The principle reason for arriving early is to check every aspect appertaining to your presentation. You need to check out the:

* Room

* Environment

* Equipment

Step 6 – Control Your Nerves

“The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public”
Anon

Let’s get one thing straight first: to some degree, everyone has butterflies in the stomach before having to speak to an audience. The key is to have the butterflies flying in formation.

Can you ever remember someone having difficulties when performing or speaking in public? I bet that you felt for him and his discomfort. I bet that you wanted to find some way to help him; to reduce his discomfort. Audiences are not evil; they do not want you to fail. And if things do get a little difficult for you they will want to assist you through it, rather than revel in your discomfort. They will wait patiently; suggest words; tell you that you have missed out a page of notes; or put the transparency on the OHP upside down. After all, it could be them up there having to make the presentation! So put your fears into perspective.

Step 7 – Build Initial Rapport With Your Audience

“A speaker who does not strike oil in ten minutes should stop boring”
Louis Nizer

You have researched your audience (Step 1) so you know a lot about them. Hence, you have all the information you need to build an immediate rapport with them. One-size-fits-all may apply to socks but it does not apply to audiences. You must understand what their ‘hot buttons’ are and be prepared to press them from the outset. The over-riding objective must be to get them on your side.

Try out these ideas to build an initial rapport:

• Boost their personal egos.

• Stress the importance of their roles, however menial they believe them to be.

• Talk their language.

• Dress the part.

• Establish your credibility.

• Use examples and anecdotes they will relate to.

• Stress that you understand the challenges they face.

Step 8 – Deliver with a Passion

“We communicate with passion – and passion persuades”
Anita Roddick

Once you have built an initial rapport with your audience, you must maintain it throughout your presentation. People will have come to hear you speak with some preconceptions and expectations. They may initially have been negative but you have worked hard in your initial five to ten minutes to grab the audience’s attention and raise expectations for the remainder of your presentation. It is your job now to meet, or even exceed, their high expectations. You must stand and deliver!

There is nothing more engaging in a speaker than for her to give the impression that she is really enjoying the presentation herself. It may be that she has given that very speech a hundred times but the audience feels and believes that this is the first time and that they are being given special attention. Yes, it is about the professionalism of the delivery, but it is also about the enthusiasm behind the delivery – the passion. Speakers must make their audience believe that they, the speaker, are as interested in, and committed to, the subject as they hope their audience will be.

Step 9 – Tell Them a Story

“Once you get people laughing, they’re listening and you can tell them almost anything” –Herbert Gardner

People have been using stories as a means of passing on information and messages since time began. People would sit around a fire and exchange experiences and these stories would be passed on from generation to generation. People love to hear stories – they hold our interest as they take us from level to level, from incident to incident, building up our curiosity until all is revealed at the ending. Our love of stories begins in early childhood and never leaves us. The camp fire may have been replaced by the bar counter or the dining room table but the fascination remains. Effective speakers understand the power of storytelling and use it to good, even dramatic, effect in their presentations. Stories add variety and can be used to illustrate and emphasise messages.

Step 10 – Use Visual Aids and Props

“Put it before them briefly so they will read it, clearly so they will appreciate it, picturesquely so they will remember it”.
Joseph Pulitzer

Visual aids are used to add interest for your audience, and there is a wide range of such, including:

* Slides (OHP or PowerPoint)

* Video

* Flipcharts

* Slide projectors

* Props, models, jigsaws, Lego pieces etc

* Graphs, charts

* Demonstrations

* Cartoons

* Photographs

* Handouts

Props. Even novice speakers should consider using props as well as visual aids. Props are particularly good at adding interest and humour to a presentation. Here are some props that I and fellow speakers have used to good effect:

• A giant toy telephone to reinforce points about telephone selling.

• Throwing small toy dinosaurs or ostriches into the audience when talking about people’s resistance to change.

• Simple magic tricks.

• Wearing costumes – from complete clown outfits to a simple baseball hat.

• Toy bombs or machine guns to grab the audience’s attention through noise.

• Aerosol sprays to invoke the sense of smell associated with a story, perhaps.

Frame Your Face with the Right Fendi Eyeglasses

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 1:27 am

You do not want your Fendi eyeglasses to be an afterthought. They are a very important part of the way you look. Glasses will enhance your appearance by matching the clothing styles you are wearing. In addition, glasses can greatly improve your personal appearance by shaping your face to go with the style of your hair. If you choose glasses that are large, you can find a great selection at glasses.com. The larger style, some which are designed by Yves Saint Laurent may be just the ones you need to complete your clothing style.

Perhaps you would choose a rimless style of glasses. These types of glasses are appealing to many people because of the lack of rims to draw your attention. The edge of the lens is almost undetectable to your eye which seems to make your view wider through your glasses. If you need sunglasses, you do not want to just take any pair you can find. Eyeglasses.com is the right place to start when you’re looking for sunglasses of just about any style you can imagine. Choosing vintage glasses is another choice taken by many people. A style that reminds you of days gone by may be the right one for you.

Thank Catholic Schools For Faith in Every Student

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 2:32 am

Their high achievement comes as they spend half the money of Indiana’s public schools

While government schools scream about small cuts in their state funding, Catholic schools will celebrate the great work they do with half the per-student spending of their counterparts.

This is Catholic Schools Week, when schools nationwide will showcase what they do for millions of children.

Criticisms that Catholic schools skim the top talent aren’t true. Many take all comers.

The difference? They don’t let excuses explain away poor achievement. This year’s Catholic Education Week theme – Faith in Every Student – perfectly sums up the goals of these schools.

I point to my alma maters, McAuley High School and Assumption Elementary School in greater Cincinnati. Both draw heavily from blue-collar families. Both have long offered a high-quality education that rivals some of the city’s best schools. Both rely on parents and alumni to fund new facilities.

Surprisingly, Catholic schools frequently are less annoying than public schools that nickel-and-dime people to death with sales of wrapping paper, candy and other things that no one wants. This comes after they tax us to death. (Why do they need more money? Half of our education dollars never make it to the classroom, but get sucked up in education bureaucracy.)

St. Paul Elementary, where my daughter Meredith attends kindergarten, strictly limits fund-raising to very few events. Focus on those and the school will get enough.

If you can’t afford the tuition, even if you’re not Catholic, these schools usually find a way for your children attend. They offer scholarships. High schools frequently allow students to sweep floors or wash dishes to offset tuition and to get work done less expensively

At my high school, these low-skill student workers freed our maintenance workers to do the high-skill work of taking care of the building.

Compare that building to Marion High School, both of which were built around the same time, and you’ll see what a huge difference it has made. McAuley looks amazing. Marion High School is falling apart because maintenance wasn’t a priority. Now the school corporation is sending taxpayers an avoidable multi-million-dollar bill.

Catholic schools don’t fit every student. Students with special needs may not find the proper resources. Some schools may have education methods that don’t suit specific students. Some families may find that Catholic teachings clash with their own.

This is why I hope that Catholic Schools week inspires not only those who attend Catholic schools, but everyone who wants the best for Indiana’s children.

Lutheran schools, which are common in Fort Wayne, do excellent work. Other Christian schools, whether denominational or non-denominational, are multiplying as parents become frustrated with public schools that challenge their religious teachings.

Actually, private schools are the proper places for morality-based teaching. Catholic schools trace their roots back 100 years, when public schools taught religion that was hostile to Catholicism. Instead of griping, Catholic parents put their kids in their own schools. Problem solved.

Public schools have their place. But we cannot expect each school to be all things to all people. Private schools have a vital role to play for our children. So could charter schools, if Indiana stops sabotaging them with restrictions.

Indiana could encourage more private schools and home-schooling by offering tax incentives to anyone who pays for a child’s education. Despite public-school belly-aching to the contrary, this would leave more money for public schools because they would have fewer kids to educate and more opportunities to specialize.

Regardless of your religious beliefs or your devotion to public schools, please say thanks to Catholic schools. They demonstrate the amazing things that happen when we put faith in our children.

Sheri Conover Sharlow, a former journalist, is the product of 11 years of Catholic education. Her daughter, Meredith, is the fourth-generation in her family to attend a Catholic school.

College Scholarships for Left-Handed Students

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 2:30 pm

If you’d like additional tips, we suggest you go to this splendid website for law enforcement scholarships advice

Looking for different methods such as school scholarships to help fund a higher education can be challenging and lengthy. College scholarships are unlike a regular student loan because these are a grant for education, so it does not need to be paid off. When looking for methods to finance a university degree, bear in mind that funds are accessible in unlikely sites, for example funding for southpaw scholars. Funding for Left Handers: — A left-handed bursary may at first seem out of the ordinary, but it’s worth looking at these facts: Albert Einstein was a lefthander, so is the president of the United States, Barack Obama. Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Ringo Starr not to mention J.F. Kennedy were also southpaws. An estimated eleven percent of the global population are left-handed. Frequently considered more artistic and to be smarter, left-handers have often gone through discrimination in the past. Stigmatisation is not a problem any longer and southpaws are no longer thought of as different, as a matter of fact they are often linked with the exceptional individuals noted previously. Should you be left handed and exploring grants specifically for lefthanded students, a lot of grants for left-handed scholars are available which you could acquire. The Beckley Scholarship for 1000 USD is available at Juniata College in Huntington, PA. For students of Juniata College and it was set up in 1979, this bursary assists a lot of southpaws through university.

Whilst you are looking for school scholarships, do be mindful that a few grants may have prerequisites or restrictions. This can be minimum grades or financial needs. Multiple program applications will give you a much better probabilty of funding a college education with a minimal level of debt. Societies, groups related to hobbies and even community organizations may be a source of college grants. Lefthanded scholarships are not the only case; funds are even obtainable if you’re the child of a member of the services or are disabled, to offer some examples.

You may need to invest a little time exploring scholarships, nevertheless the advantages will be worthwhile. When utilized with standard lending, they are effective at cutting the student debt that a college degree can generate. Leave no stone unturned in exploring every scholarship. Remember the different choices besides southpaw bursaries – list your local associations and utilize every available resource. If you even consider you may meet the criteria, then apply, you may keep your academic debt minimal, additionally you will look forward to improved prospects after finishing university.

How to Burst the Tournament Bubble

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 10:03 am

We’ve all heard of the bubble concept in tournament poker play, that elusive line where you are in the money on one side and walking away with nothing on the other. In tournament play it separates those serious poker players from the fish. You want, nay need, to get past the bubble in a tournament if you ever want to make it to the final table at the casino.

Remember that most people tell that the bubble is approaching. As a consequence of this knowledge, you will notice that many players will start playing impatiently. They want to get through the bubble, just like you. But unlike you, they are allowing the stress to dictate how they play. If you just sit back, relax, and play conservatively, you should be able to capitalize on their avoidable mistakes. Your pot will take care of itself if you are playing well. Don’t worry about the size of your pot at this point. As long as you have enough to play with, your mind should be solely focused on playing the best possible hands.

When faced with a bubble, just focus on the task at hand. If you spend your time worrying about the final table, or even ending in the money, you will break your focus. Focus on the bubble if you want to break into the high poker ranks.

Atonement

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 5:36 am

The dictionary of NIV terms states that atonement means Act by which sinners are made “at one” with Godwhen barriers of sin between God and sinners are removed. The Day of Atonement was an Old Testament annual fast when the high priest entered the Most Holy Place to atone for the sins of the people (Lev.16). Sacrifices on the Day of Atonement cleansed the whole nation of sineven unknown transgressions. Later Christ’s death made the final atonement for believers, making further sacrifices unnecessary. Lets see what the Bible says, look at Romans 3:21 it says (Righteousness Through Faith) But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunishedhe did it to demonstrated his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then is boasting? It is excluded. On what principle? On that of observing the law? No, but on that of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law. Is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then nullify the law by this faith? Now at all! Rather, we uphole the law.

Now look at Acts 17: 29 it says Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stonean image made by man’s design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.

Look at Hebrews 2:14 it says Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of deaththat is, the deviland free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angles he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way. In order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when was tempted he is able to help those who are being tempted.

Now look at Hebrews 4:14 it says Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we areyet without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Now look Hebrews 5:1 it says Every high priest is selected from among men related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people. No one takes this honor upon himself; he must be called by God, just as Aaron was. So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God sad to him, You are my Son; today I have become your Father. And he says in another place, You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Look at Hebrews 7:26 it says Such a high priest meets our needone who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinner, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priest, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who are weak; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

Now look at Hebrews 9: :11 it says When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, he went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation. He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Pace “once for all” by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption. The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean. How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleansed our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritancenow that he has die as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Look at 1John 4:9 it says This is how God showed his love among us; He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

In closing look at Philippians 2:5 it says Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to deatheven death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Love Always,
Your Sister in Christ,

Panic Disorder Therapy – the Way to Remedy Anxiety Disorder and Attacks

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 2:37 am

The fact that we exist means that we regularly have to get over life’s obstacles. It appears that the more we develop technology and ways to create things more quickly, the more panic attacks increase. We should examine this further. You would think that worries and workloads would decrease with our consistent advancement in technology. Nevertheless, anxiousness and depressive disorder appear worse now than when compared to the past. I guess it’s possible that in the past, folk did not talk about such unpleasantries. For sure that is not the same today. Fact is, if you engage in any TV watching, I’m sure you’ve witnessed some sort of ad for a medicine, which provides panic attacks treatment.

These issues are rising to the surface and being hashed out openly. Whether it be sleep related or dread of public places, scientists are always coming up with different ways to fix it. Getting quite a bit of their attention is anxiety and natural depression. When I consider depression, I think of a person who has recently suffered the loss of a loved one or someone who is disabled in such a way that prevents them from carrying on normally. In most situations this is not the case. We are surrounded by people that are pummeled by the burden of panic attacks and natural depression for other reasons. We usually do not recognize the reasons. You may wonder if it concerns the food we eat. It seems to be part of the human condition to lack total contentment with life.

A matter that worries me, is teens. Anxiety and depressive disorder appears to be striking them more than anyone these days. Granted, being a teen is difficult in some areas, and incredibly easy in others. Some teens may claim that it is all miserable. We all were teens at least once. We certainly know much of what they are going through. However, panic attacks were not part of my teen experience. It is challenging to understand the changes of the last ten years. Anxiety attacks should not be a part of childhood. As a matter of fact, anxiety attacks and depression should be much less prevalent than it is altogether.

Mining Your Experiences for that Article or Book

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 11:00 am

Chances are good that the next article or book you read is based on the author’s experience. In each publication, the author doesn’t just relate his or her experience, but explains the benefits that he or she derived from it, such as lessons, suggestions and concepts.

So, if you are looking for something to write about, consider what has been happening to you lately, and how you have responded. For example, have you successfully resolved a situation with an effectively written complaint letter, been offered a job as the result of a great resume, began a successful home business, built something practically from scratch, become more resilient and successful after being fired? All of these experiences have potential for saleable articles and books.

But how do you start? Begin by taking inventory of all of your recent experiences. Next to each experience, write down an audience who might benefit, such as students, salespeople, jobseekers, entrepreneurs, or parents. Most likely, if your chosen audience is likely to have a similar experience, it would be an ideal audience. But don’t stop there! List other possible audiences, such as investors, and perhaps a reason or two for their interest in your article or book.

Once you’ve chosen your audience and experience, it’s time to milk that experience. For example, what mistakes can you help your audience avoid? What have you done successfully that can be duplicated by your audience(s)? What lessons did you learn and can share with your audience(s)? Remember that helping others to satisfy basic needs, such as the need for love and security, can suggest other directions and help you to put a new spin on common topics.

If your experience includes writing successful business letters, for example, you may have just enough material for an article. On the other hand, if you wish to explain in steps how to recover and prosper from a recent job loss, you may have plenty of material for a book!

The next step involves writing out your experience in more detail, from beginning to end. Doing this will give you material to refer to as well as select certain details from. How did you feel at the time? What were your initial reactions? How were others affected? What was the outcome? Would you do the same thing in a similar situation or not, and why?

If you have enough material for an article, create a working title, write a short introduction that may or may not include an anecdote, relate your experience and conclude with the lessons learned. Remember to check the magazine that you wish to write for and look at its articles, paying attention to their topics, introductions and content.

On the other hand, if you have enough material for a book, create a working title and a list of ten or more chapter descriptions. Remember that each double-spaced, typewritten chapter should consist of 15-20 or more pages. When you have done this, you will have an outline of your book. It might also be a good idea to decide how your book stands out from other published books on the same topic.

As in other writing, describing your experiences and explaining the lessons learned from them may take a little practice and time. But you are more likely to find a plethora of material to write about and see quicker results once you’ve submitted your work. Good luck in all of your efforts!

Obama’s Sweet-and-sour Deal for Mobile Broadband Providers

Filed under: Uncategorized — @ 4:44 am

America’s mobile broadband solution providers had reason to rejoice recently, when President Obama’s administration passed the Stimulus Bill. The Bill handed out some much needed relief to the industry as mobile broadband solution providers were reeling under declining sales. Grants to the tune of $7.2 billion were sanctioned and most of them were meant for spreading broadband connectivity across the rural areas of the US. This simply translated into more business for the providers and the move was welcomed by everyone in the industry.

It appears that this sigh of relief isn’t going to last for very long. There is a proposed fee that would soon be imposed on the mobile industry as the government tries to make-up for its increasing expenditures. President Obama and his advisors are realising the problem that is posed by the huge shortfall in their budget.
